Garage Door Won T Stay Up

I m fairly mechanically inclined and was an hvac tech for a number of years however i ve never done the first thing with a garage door. The main reason for this is that the springs aren t holding as they should you will need to have your springs adjusted to give your garage the ability to hold the weight of the door. This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature. Test the garage door to see if it stays closed.

Secure the garage door in this position by clamping vice. It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again. Check the motor housing mounted to the ceiling of your garage. You should find two plastic screw heads or knobs on the back side or bottom of the housing.

Start by rotating the down limit screw or knob one complete turn in the minus direction. Raise the garage door up to its fully open position. Locate the cable clip that is attached to an s hook toward the front of the horizontal track. Having a door which won t stay open or which droops when at the height of its lift can be troublesome.

You push the button to close the garage door.
